Important Note:
I get many letters on daily basis requesting for job. Unfortunately Geoskillz is not a mudlogging company, in fact it is not even a company. It is simply a free learning platform with a mission to help you in job interviews. In future, however I intend to have a space on this site for “Rig-site Geologists Jobs”. So please stay in touch.
Best Wishes

Hi sir
This is Sanoz Ahamed, completed my MSc Geology from University of Madras.
I am currently looking for a job to advance in my career sir, i wish you could help and guide me with it sir.
Thanks in advance
Hi Sanoz,
Please do the followings:
1. Decide which industry you want to join as a geologist for example mining industry, oil industry or geology survey etc.
2. Study the industry of your choice in depth. Find out various avenues which offer job opportunities for geologists.
3. Find out the job description/job responsibilities of the position that is offered to fresh geologist.
4. Find out what knowledge and skill set are required to do that job you are targeting
5. Go all out to acquire the required knowledge and skills.
For example if you are targeting oil industry for whatever reason and you study the oil industry you will find out that upstream part of the industry has many avenues for geologists to pursue their career. Oil companies have many positions for fresh geologists like development geologist, Biostratigrapher, geophysicist, petrophysicist, wellsite geologist. Of course they first train you and then confirm you in the position. However these jobs are rather rare and difficult to come by. Best way to enter oil industry is through service companies and there are many service companies that hire geologists. For a fresh geologist, perhaps easiest is mudlogging company. Here the jobs are comparatively plenty. Again you have to prepare in a focused way. If you want to give it a try, visit my website: geoskillz.com. There you will find valuable resources for an aspiring logging geologist. Any question, get in touch.
This is a great piece of knowledge. I have learnt a lot from this.
